Nontraditional production additives fail to improve potato yield and economic return

چکیده
Manufacturers of nontraditional crop additives may claim products will enhance yield and improve economic return, yet many offer only grower testimonials for product validation rather than unbiased, peer-reviewed research. If the do not perform as described, they serve to reduce revenue. To investigate these claims in potato (Solanum tuberosum L.), field trials were conducted near Othello, Washington from 2016 2019 on 27 additive treatments composed 32 products. Treatments applied using one or more application techniques: in-furrow surface bands, foliar sprays, chemigations/fertigations (applied through irrigation system) per manufacturer recommendations addition standard practices. Conventional nutrients be nonlimiting growth. Economic return was calculated a mock processing contract adjusted individual costs that ranged US$15 US$889 ha−1. Treatment-adjusted gross values <7.7% >8.5% treatment value, total yields 108 136 Mg ha−1, but differences control significant any treatment. Reclaim, surfactant, OneUP NutriCal, both specialty fertilizers, increased US No. 1 yield, average tuber weight, specific gravity, respectively. Some tested provide other benefits like soil health improvement water use reduction those parameters included this study. Growers should avoid applying unproven until are approved by an trustworthy research entity.

Optimization of some additives to improve protease production under SSF.
In a locally isolated Rhizopus oryzae strain highest-production of protease (388.54/g wheat bran) was observed in presence of Tween-80 and dioctyl sodium sulfosuccinate individually at 40mg/g wheat bran concentration. Under solid state fermentation biotin (0.0025mg/g wheat bran); Ca2+ (0.05mg/g wheat bran) and 1-Naphthyl acetic acid (0.01mg/g wheat bran) also showed some inducing effect on the ...

In Ardabil region potato crop needs several irrigation, however ground water supplies arebeing exhausted due to reduced precipitation and intensive irrigation. In this research droughttolerance of 10 commercial potato cultivars was studied at three irrigation treatments (100%,80% and 60% of required irrigation water) in Ardabil in a two years field study, 2013-2014.At harvest, marketable tuber ...
متن کاملTwo-dimensional isobutyl acetate production pathways to improve carbon yield
For an economically competitive biological process, achieving high carbon yield of a target chemical is crucial. In biochemical production, pyruvate and acetyl-CoA are primary building blocks. When sugar is used as the sole biosynthetic substrate, acetyl-CoA is commonly generated by pyruvate decarboxylation. However, pyruvate decarboxylation during acetyl-CoA formation limits the theoretical ma...
متن کاملModeling economic, biophysical, and environmental dynamics of potato production system
The adoption and use of diversified cropping practices has become widely accepted by producers. However, the profitability of an enterprise is dependent on the biophysical and economic factors. The biophysical factors determine the enterprise relationship among the various crops, their interactions with the ecosystem, and how each of them fits into the overall management plan. The economic fact...
